STET’s Greenhouse

STET’s Greenhouse is a place for performers to grow. Each year we present experimental work by up-and-coming talent, alongside established performers. You get to see a diverse selection of the best new theatre, dance, music and storytelling while walking through the beautiful garden of the Hof van Wouw. Scroll down to see the lineup of this year’s performers.

Hof van Wouw (De Tuinkamer)
The Hof van Wouw is a beautiful garden in the center of The Hague with a lovely piece of local history. The place consists of several Almshouses and was founded in 1647 by Cornelia van Wouw for the purpose of providing accommodation for single women.

Line-up 

Allie + Diederik van Wassenaer – Music

‘Allie & Deets’ is a duo formed by Allie Summers and Diederik van Wassenaer, who both sing as well as play the violin and guitar. Allie is an American bluegrass fiddle player and vocalist, and Diederik is a Dutch classical violinist and singer-songwriter. They released their their full-length studio album ‘Too Much’ in 2017.

Allie collaborated with Michael Bublé, Anneke van Giersbergen, and a tour with Paul de Munnik, Kees Prins en JP den Tex in the successful show ‘De Vertalingen’. Diederik is a member of the Residentie Orkest in The Hague and regularly arranges strings for songwriters in the U.S. and the Netherlands.

Jowi Len – Spoken Word

Jowi Len (she/her) is a spoken word artist, copywriter & dancer. Her interest in the cross-cultural experience and identity has shaped her work. She aspires to build bridges with her stories, through the perspective of a third culture kid & South-East Asian woman. 

Susan Malaika Bailey – Theatre

To Ponder or to Wonder, to Worry or to Wander?

Susan Malaika Bailey is an artist that wonders about the human condition through song, speach and movement. She is known to hold a note, progress conversations and question the norm. Up until this moment she has predominantly lent her voice and body in support of the expression of narratives other than her own.

At the STET Greenhouse sessions, she’d like to take the opportunity to GROW forward, beyond the places she’s been, and invite you in to listen to her personal musings.

Kitchen’s Light

Kitchen’s Light is a performance project exploring sign language use in the arts.

The aim of the Kitchen’s Light project is to promote access to and visibility of cultural expressions in Dutch Sign Language (NGT) together with young deaf culture makers, sign language artists and social partners. Central to this project is the agency of young deaf culture makers in discovering and deepening their creative talents. This performance is in Dutch Sign Language and English speaking interpreter will be present.

Accessibility

Hof van Wouw is not fully wheelchair accessible. If you want to visit this event by wheelchair, please contact our production manager Berta Cussó at production@theenglishtheatre.nl.

For the 17.30 performance, Dutch sign language interpreters will be present; the final performance however, will be a musical duo, where there will be a limited translation of certain songs into NGT
