STET NEWS in Corona times

The Hague, 6 April 2020

Due to the COVID-19 virus we have been obliged to cancel all our shows until June 1st. It is with great sadness that we have had to stop our programme, featuring:

March: Games by Henry Naylor
April: Louder is Not Always Clearer with Jonny Cotsen
May: STET No Limits: A Call to Action – theatrical symposium on Arts and Disabilities

Our Open Air Shakespeare performances in summer CORONA PERMITTED
Normally we start the new season in early September with two open-air shows by the British Open Air Theatre Company Illyria. As Illyria foresaw a very difficult season, with lots of cancellations, they have had to stop the production of all their shows of which Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and the family show The Further Adventures of Dr Dolittle were to be shown in The Netherlands. The good news is that they will come back in 2021.

Tom Dello, our programmer, has done a great job to find The Handlebards, a lovely young British outdoor theatre company which will join us, if all the Corona regulations permit us, with A Midsummer Night’s Dream on the 4th and 5th of September. More information about this show will follow.

Education
Unfortunately STET Education has also had to cancel all its workshops, as all schools in The Netherlands are closed until at least the 6th of May. STET Education has immediately developed a wonderful online workshop for schools, which is now on offer for schools.

Online theatre
STET’s Facebook page features regular postings on online showings of theatre worldwide.
