CHARLES DICKENS'
A CHRISTMAS CAROL

returns to

performed and told by
Ashley Ramsden, master storyteller from the UK

Charles Dickens' novel, "A Christmas Carol" (1843), is the famous redemption tale of the wicked Ebenezer Scrooge. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by spirits, including his former business partner Jacob Marley, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come.

Each ghost has a different message for Scrooge about how his penny-pinching and indifference has affected himself and others who care about him.

By the end of the story, Scrooge has become enlightened and vows to change his mean, miserly ways before it's too late. “I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach. “

Can we still learn from this wise tale? Is it possible in this world that seems to be more divided than ever to share, live together and listen to one another? The gap between haves and have-nots seems to widen. And the difference in what is true and not-true (anymore) is no longer distinguishable. This story brings it all down to the essence that by sharing and considering the other we can only gain.

Bristish Master storyteller Ashley Ramsden returns for the 13th year for what has now become a tradition. Audiences have come back year after year to enjoy this timeless tale about greed, jealousy, redemption and so hope and generosity.. A wonderful way to start the season of good will! Let's share it!

SHSG logo
Every year we carefully choose a charity to support in the weeks leading up to Christmas. We usually encourage audiences to donate in the boxes before or after A Christmas Carol performance.

This year we like to raise funds for STICHTING HAAGSE SPORTSTIMULERING voor GEHANDICAPTEN This is a local charity that does fabulous work within the community to create sportsopportunities for people, young and old, who are impaired. We always make sure that the money immediately and directly goes to the people who are in need.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
There will be cash-donationboxes available during the performances in the Koninklijke Schouwburg, Muiderslot and Theater aan het Spui. However, it is also possible to donate by card!
