PAPER PUPPETRY WORKSHOPS

Making puppets and breathing life into them in an
interactive workshop for children (5 – 9 years olds)
Saturday 29 May – THE WORKSHOPS ARE DEFINITELY GOING ON!

A spring storm wakes the bear from his winter sleep. He crawls out of his cave only to find old newspaper, plastic bags, twigs and leaves blown into his forest. He decides to become friends with all the imaginary creatures he meets.
In these magical workshops we will explore the world of puppetry. Children will get the chance to create their own little animals and make adventures in their imaginative world using only their hands and old newspaper. The session will end with an unexpected storm that blows the story and all the puppets away, but first invites everyone for a fun dance!

About the workshop leader

Nina van der Mark

With a background in visual theatre and puppetry and with a fascination for public spaces, her work focuses on touch; the physical empathy that object manipulation brings, the excitement of physical games and the absurdness of creating images and installations in public spaces. She loves playing with breathing life into inanimate objects, creating visual invitations to play, move and to connect story, image and space.

“Once you are real you can’t become unreal again. It lasts for always.”
― Margery Williams Bianco, The Velveteen Rabbit
