CHEKHOV TIMES THREE
Chekhov perfected the art of interpreting human idiosyncrasies
by parading characters who give the impression of being quite
normal but actually being far from it. His one-act plays show a
witty insight into human relationships and the deep yearning for
a better life.
The Proposal depicts an event that should be full of joy and
expectations: a marriage proposal. But whatever can go wrong
goes wrong…. Burning passion turns to confusing discussions over
landownership and, of all things, dogs. Love and greed return in
The Bear. TUSK’s version of this well-loved Chekhov gem will be
somewhat surprising, and will add an erotic tinge to the story
of a widow and her debt-collector.
PETYA’S STORY World Premiere
A funny and moving story about three girls from Eastern Europe,
trying their luck in London. They arrive in a dangerous world
full of prejudices and scratch out a living while struggling to
keep the golden promise of Western Europe alive. When one of
them receives an offer from her hometown university, it changes
their friendship forever. A new play by British writer Cheryl
White, based in The Hague, about friendship, choices and loss.
This play will have its world premiere in EAST WEST EAST Theatre
Festival in The Hague, featuring three young British actresses
on the brink of their careers.
