INFORMATION
Letteracy, marks the fringe debut of Waiheke based storyteller, writer Tanya Batt. Letteracy was created around family letters kept in an old trunk.
"It was called Flora's Hairy Chest, a goat skin chest that contained all our family secrets, a litter of letters, like worded crumbs to mark the path home."
Meet Emily Post, the Queen of letter writing, etiquette, pole dance with a letter box, see the Tsar's slot and play the game you've got mail....
A Lively interactive piece of storytelling theatre, stamped, sealed and delivered by story-o-phile an frock-o-holic Tanya Batt.
Tanya has travelled and worked all over the world and is especially known for her powerful and inspiring performances for young people.
PRESS QUOTES:
“Funny, thought provoking, warm and delightful – Tanya’s insights into the disappearing art of letter writing will prove irresistible for the audience.”
Mike Grunfeld, Music in Mike’s Head, The Hague on Line
“……It’s an hour long, one-woman, laugh-out-loud, non-embarrassing-audience-interaction* show. We left feeling decidedly excellent.”
*yes there is interaction. No, you are unlikely to feel embarrassed if you are chosen :)
EDUCATION
School performances
As her work in schools was so successful, Kids in the City and STET have asked her to dedicate some of her time in working in schools again. This offers schools a unique opportunity to have their pupils/students, aged 5 – 18 years, experiencing this most wonderful performer and storyteller in their own environment. These performances/workshops will take place between 8 – 11 June .
“When Tanya visited our school, she changed the way we looked at storytelling. Her stories reminded us why people tell stories, Staff and students alike were entranced with Tanya's voice and realised the only prop needed is imagination.”
Balik College, Victoria.
